Double glazing with integrated blinds provides adjustable visual privacy; acoustic or fire claims require separate evidence. Laminated or cavity constructions may be considered for higher acoustic control, but they do not prove performance.

Single-glazed, double-glazed, integrated-blind and mixed configurations must be coordinated with an appropriate SG platform. SG-40, SG-86 and SG-100 are different system options, not quality levels.

The 5/6 mm double glazing with integrated blinds, 6/8 mm double glazing configured for project requirements, and 10/12 mm minimal-joint or butt-jointed options are distinct constructions. Thicker glass may improve specific properties, but glass thickness alone does not determine complete-wall performance.

Platform selection depends on how the space will be used, the required configuration and the available budget.

Complete-Wall Checks for Single or Double Glazing

Assess glazing as part of the complete wall, considering privacy, doors, height and building interfaces.

Privacy: Frosting, film, and solid or mixed zones provide fixed visual privacy; integrated blinds provide adjustable privacy. Speech privacy requires complete-wall assessment and evidence where needed.

Doors and leakage paths: Check the door leaf and frame, perimeter seals, the bottom gap, glass and panel joints, ceiling or plenum paths, service penetrations, and floor and side interfaces. Match the door leaf, frame and seals to the privacy target and any relevant test report.

Height and interfaces: Wall height, pane size/weight, segmentation, openings, top/bottom/side conditions, corners, raised floors, curtain walls and installation access may change the glazing selection.

Absorption may reduce echo but does not prove room-to-room sound isolation.

STC 42 applies only to the tested 86T double-glazed laminated glass partition under its reported ASTM E90/E413 test conditions—not to other SG-86 systems, double glazing, doors, rooms or site performance.

Can One Project Use Both Single and Double Glazed Partitions?
