How Solid Panel and Material Configurations Fit SG-86, SG-100, and SG-40 Systems

A project should first identify the most suitable system type, then review whether that system is better suited for finished solid panels, glass, or a glass-and-solid panel configuration.

Each system is suited to a different material and finish strategy. SG-86 works well for standard office projects using double-sided finished panels, glass, or glass-and-solid layouts. SG-100 is better suited for projects that require a stronger wall presence, more visual enclosure, or double-sided solid finishes. SG-40 is mainly used for glass partitions where transparency, daylight, and a lighter visual effect are the main priorities.

How Solid Panel Partitions Connect to Frames, Door Frames, and Site Interfaces

A solid panel partition is not defined only by the panel or glass material. It also needs to be reviewed in terms of how the panels connect to the frame, ceiling, and floor, and how the system meets side walls, columns, curtain walls, or existing building surfaces.

Solid Panels and Edge Details

Solid panels are fixed to the partition frame with clips or fixing hardware. The panel edge treatment and finishing method will affect the overall wall appearance.

Stud and U-Channel Fixing

The vertical stud is typically positioned inside the U-channel for alignment. Under standard conditions, additional screws are not normally required between the stud and the U-channel.

Top Interface

The top of the partition is usually connected to the ceiling through a U-channel. The ceiling type should be confirmed, such as gypsum board ceiling, T-grid ceiling, or concrete slab.

Bottom Interface

The bottom of the partition is usually connected to the floor through a U-channel. The floor condition should be confirmed, such as concrete floor, finished floor, raised floor, carpet, or tile.

Side Wall / Column / Existing Wall Interface

When the partition connects to a side wall, column, curtain wall, or existing building wall, the closure detail, vertical alignment, surface flatness, and site obstructions should be reviewed.

Door Frame and Hardware Coordination

The door frame should be reviewed together with the solid panels, glass areas, and wall system. Door type, opening direction, locks, hinges, door closers, and other hardware can all affect the door frame and surrounding wall configuration.
